U.S. Soccer Web + App Launch

Copy Lead | Content Strategy | Workshops | Concepting

I still remember where I was when I watched the 99ers become one of the most iconic teams in history. 20 years later, it was a dream come true to create and launch the new U.S. Soccer digital ecosystem in the run-up to the 19ers pursuit of their fourth star (AND THEY DID IT!).

From leading the content strategy and client workshops, creating a new TOV and digital brand guidelines, to working across UX, design and dev teams to bring the web and app to life, the athlete inside me couldn’t have been more honored to help showcase both the U.S. Women’s and Men’s teams in all their glory for fans old and new.

Launched before the kickoff of the 2019 Women’s World Cup, the new ussoccer.com and first-ever U.S. Soccer fan app serve the content fans care about most. The website is their premier destination for in-depth player stories and the latest team news while on match day, the app gives unrivaled access with real-time stats, match visualizations, replays and more.

Our reimagined digital ecosystem marked an industry first, elevating content and stats for women in sport unlike any other sports platform. It’s also personalized by data to elevate the fan experience during the 2019 WWC and for iconic moments yet to come.

While the app debuted as the #1 Sports App on the Apple Store, initial results showed immediate impact: 56% increase in site visits, 17% more on time on site, a 5x and 3x increase in match and player views, plus a 60% increased potential of media impressions. All with zero paid media.

Stay tuned with both National Soccer Teams on gameday here and check out the website to stay up to date year round.
